Immunotherapy
Harnessing the Immune System in Cancer Care
Immunotherapy uses the body's own immune system to help recognize, target, or respond to cancer for certain pets and cancer types. It may offer another treatment option, either on its own or as part of a broader oncology plan.
At Pet Cancer Center, every recommendation is shaped around the individual patient. We will help you understand whether immunotherapy may be appropriate, what treatment may involve, and how it fits into the larger goals for your pet's care.
What Is Veterinary Immunotherapy?
Cancer can sometimes avoid or suppress the body's natural immune response. Immunotherapy is designed to leverage the immune system so it can better identify or respond to cancer cells.
There are several forms of immunotherapy, and not every option is appropriate for every diagnosis. Recommendations depend on factors such as the type and stage of cancer, your pet's overall health, available therapies, and the goals of treatment.

Immunotherapy Options at Pet Cancer Center
Depending on your pet's diagnosis and individual treatment plan, immunotherapy may include:
- Cancer vaccines
- Monoclonal antibody therapies
- Immune-modulating medications
- Ongoing treatment monitoring
Your pet's oncologist will explain why a particular therapy may be considered, what is currently known about its potential benefits and limitations, and whether it may be used alongside other treatments.
What to Expect
Before treatment begins, our oncology team will review your pet's medical history, diagnostic results, and overall health. We will explain how the recommended therapy is administered, how often visits may be needed, and what monitoring may be required.
Throughout treatment, we will evaluate how your pet is responding and make adjustments when appropriate. You will also receive practical guidance about what to watch for at home and when to contact our team.
